Insurance dispute resolution with an emphasis on public and product liability, property damage, professional indemnity, recovery actions, complex class actions, policy interpretation and building and construction matters.
Background
Lesley has significant experience in insurance litigation having worked in this field since 1997. She holds a Bachelor of Law (with Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting). Lesley is the President of the Association for Women in Insurance.
Experience
In her 13 year career, Lesley has conducted proceedings from both a plaintiff and defendant perspective in various jurisdictions including District, Supreme and Federal and has also been actively involved with varying forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Lesley's recent projects include acting for:

the insurer of a company who's employee negligently caused injury to a person on the company's premises;

auditors who allegedly failed to properly investigate the taxation background of a company that failed to disclose earnings;
-
a building company in an action against its contracted architect for failure to prepare adequate designs;
-
a company whose contaminated product resulted in a recall of various related products;
-
a provider of day care services in relation to a coronial inquiry;
-
a hotel in relation to injuries sustained by a patron whilst visiting the hotel's premises;
-
lawyers who failed to properly advise their client in relation to a claim for negligence at common law;
-
a manufacturer of building products alleged to have been involved in a catastrophic worksite incident;
-
an investment manager in relation to claims of misleading and deceptive conduct, breach of contract and breach of duty of care;
-
an insurer and insured in relation to recovery proceedings arising from the destruction of the insured's property through fire;
-
the insurer of a recreational facility in which a person sustained personal injury whilst leaving the premises;
-
a property manager who managed a series of buildings which sustained water damage as a result of faulty air conditioners;
-
the insurer of a company which made misleading statements in relation to a telemarketed product; and
-
the insurer of a golf course where a child sustained significant injuries to his eye as a result of being hit by a golf club.
Lesley has also recently successfully defended a slip and fall claim against the owners and cleaners of a shopping centre.
