Background

Brian Trist joined Curwoods as a solicitor in November 2008 and was promoted to the position of Senior Associate (property/construction) in April 2009. 

Brian was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1999 and has practised as a litigation lawyer since his admission. He has gained his experience with major law firms such as Deacons and Dibbs Barker.        

Experience

Brian has a broad range of experience in defendant litigation on behalf of insurers, Government entities and large self-insured corporate entities. His areas of expertise include major property damage claims, construction claims, general insurance, public liability, products liability, mortgage disputes, personal injury and dust diseases claims.

Brian has been involved in the following matters:

• The explosion of a pet food factory in country New South Wales which has resulted in a significant claim being brought by the owners of the factory and claims by the owners of neighbouring houses damaged in the explosion.
• Significant claims against a Government entity arising from the "Black Christmas" bushfires in the Stanwell Tops area in 2001.
• Substantial settlement conferences involving corporate entities with respect to asbestos liabilities.

Brian provides in-house seminars on current legal matters and publishes case notes on recent developments in his areas of practice.
