Main areas of practiceResolving compulsory third party injury claims. BackgroundAndrew is a long-time partner of Curwoods and leads the firm's CTP team. He has built the CTP practice into a market leader and has attracted many high quality lawyers to the CTP team. In addition, Andrew plays a leading role in developing, implementing and improving the firm’s quality assurance processes. ExperienceAndrew runs a busy practice and currently represents three underwriters in CTP personal injury claims. He provides advice on evidence management and assists underwriters with the implementation and restructuring of claims management procedures. He has devised and managed specialised processes aimed at recovery of compensation and rapid resolution of claims. He has also drafted a range of proposed amendments to the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999. He is an experienced negotiator and litigator and is recognised by his peers and clients as being an expert in his field. This status was recognised in 2000 when Andrew was appointed a Claims Assessor for CARS by the Motor Accidents Authority. This quasi-judicial appointment was made based on Andrew's experience in the industry and peer and industry respect. Andrew is frequently involved in assisting clients with CTP-related training initiatives and has particular ability in imparting skills about evidence management and advocacy. With Peter Hunt, another partner in the CTP team, Andrew thoroughly reviewed the recent amendments to the Motor Accidents Compensation Act and advised management and senior staff of major insurers, such as NRMA, AAMI, QBE and GIO, on practical implications of the amendments. He also conducted extensive training to prepare claims staff to operate effectively under the changed Scheme.
