The Curwoods CTP team is led by Andrew Gorman and comprises ten lawyers. We represent four of the six licensed CTP insurers in NSW who together hold about 90 per cent of the market. Our CTP team also includes a major claims component led by partner, Ian Jones.

Our work ranges from common or standard claims including whiplash and fracture right through to advice on major and catastrophic claims, characterized by injuries having various causes, complex liability disputes or damages which involve difficulty in terms of assessment.

What makes our team valued is its extensive experience, sound judgment, excellent organizational skills, keen sense of timeliness and deep knowledge of medical issues. Our advocacy skills enable us to often run our own assessments.

With a commitment to helping share our knowledge with clients, we regularly run training and workshop sessions and provide sounding board advice to senior management about practical implications of legislative and procedural change.

Two of our partners, Andrew Gorman and Peter Hunt, are Claims Assessors for CARS appointed by the Motor Accidents Authority. This quasi-judicial role requires skills in assessing evidence, the credibility of witnesses and claimants and ensuring determinations are made in a fair and impartial way. As claimants are often unrepresented, the need to exhibit patience and impartiality is of great importance.
